Exterior Signage

  1. In order to create the signage design, I considered the technical and functional issues of the signage and the suggestions of merchants
and consumers of the Mercado Artesanal de Guayaquil.

  2. The location of the signage supports was based on the plans given to me by the Departamento de Proyectos
of the Municipalidad de Guayaquil (in English, the Council of Guayaquil's Department of Projects).

  3. The signage proposal didn't require an extra plan of illumination because the building already had plenty
    of natural light (exterior)
and enought natural and artificial light in the interior.

  4. The external signage supports were created specially with iron, steel and metallic elements, in order
to resist the external evironmental effect.

  5. All of the signage plan included Spanish and English language.

A Directories

  1. I designed a directory with
the views of the 2 floors of the building. I suggested to locate one directory in the right side of each entry to
the building (in total eight entries) so people can easily locate: parking, exits, sections, toilets, etc.

  2. Because of the directories were located in the exterior, the materials suggested for their construction were: MDF, steel screws and acrylic sheet (cover).

B Entrance/Exit signs

  1. These were signs located upon each entrance/exit to the builing. One side indicates the number of the entrance and, on the another side,
the number of the exit is displayed.

  2. These signs were designed with MDF and iron chains.
The words are MDF embossed pieces covered with natural varnish.

C Colgantes

  1. I named as "colgantes" (in English, "hanging") to this signage support, because it was designed to be handed by strong iron chains from a strong metallic cylindrical structure suspended on the ceiling on the building.

  2. Each colgante had four rectangle MDF boards. In each side of the board there is a photography printed either, artisans making handicrafts, or handicrafts from whichever of the four regions of Ecuador. These pictures were screen-printed in adhesive vinyl.

  3. In total I suggested to locate four colgantes, one in each external side of the building.

D "Artesanito" Structures

  1. Artesanito (An affective way
of saying "artisan") is an metallic structure with the
logo without text in the top, handind the signs "parqueo/ parking".

  2. This structure was totally designed with metallic components and painted
    with automotive lacquer.

  3. In total I suggested to locate three structures, one in each corner of the building before of the parking area.
