Elements of the logo
The logo was made up of:
- The silhouette of the head and the hat of a craftsman.
- The silhouette of the hands of the craftsman who hold fibres intertwining them.
- The fibers, which form a circular structure around the artisan (environment) .
- A text that read: "Mercado Artesanal de Guayaquil”.
Colours of the logo
The logo was designed with one colour (Pantone 181 CVU) at 50% and 100%.
Meanings and connotations
- The logo represents the artisans of Ecuador, who with their skilful hands creatively combine natural materials from their environment, to make crafts that represent our culture, and at the same time, are the multicultural wealth of the Mercado Artesanal de Guayaquil.
- In the logo I included a hat, since it is an element that is always woven by Ecuadorian artisans (whether of the coast, mountains, or other regions).
- I used the hands of the craftsman in order to stress the concept that, in the Mercado Artesanal, they sell products hand-crafted.
- I used intertwined fibres to connote that the artisan combines fibres and/or materials to develop handicrafts.
- The colour applied in the logo has earth and red tan tone. Along with the icons, it connotes rusticity, craft, labour, and skilled craftsmen who come together to unite fibres and/or materials and develop handicrafts.
